Soul Summit: A Food Conversation

Soul Summit was a first-of-its-kind symposium that celebrated the rich culinary history of African Americans. It was hosted over Juneteenth weekend, at Huston-Tillotson, an Historically Black College and University, by Toni Tipton-Martin’s foundation, in partnership with public and private entities, such as universities, other nonprofit organizations and food businesses. Soul Summit was dedicated to promoting and preserving African American foodways, exploring food trends, and inspiring future generations of culinary professionals. The event brought together nationally-recognized scholars, restaurateurs, farmers, chefs, vintners, entrepreneurs, students, journalists, food activists and others interested in experiencing and celebrating African American food culture.
